129 THE FINAL BLOG EVER!!!!!!

Today was my last day at develop it was very sad apart from having to write this blog because I hate writing these. We began by continuing on with my assignment three re submission because when I get the re submission done I will have no units left to hand in meaning I will be finished.

We also did a mini Kahoot quiz which was about animated characters. I was really good at this quiz until my phone locked and I got the answer wrong. We also did a quiz about the game No Mans Sky and the presentation they did at E3 just a few days ago. I nearly won  that quiz as well but I was half a mark off.

Overall today was a good day and also my last day, which means this is my last ever blog I have to write because if I have to write anymore I will refuse. The fact I have written 129 blogs is an achievement and I should not have to write anymore as a result of this achievement.

Blog Post 128

Today we began the day by looking at an old computer systems exam paper from 2013, we also had the mark scheme to look at as well. I found this to be boring but it also made me realise that I am lucky that I do not have to do a written exam. I probably would of scored somewhere between 10 and 20.

I then continued on with my work for assignment three which today was to complete tasks two and three. I began with task two and found it to be slightly easier than task one mainly because task two requires a lot less detail. I then moved onto task three which was quite similar to task two.

We then did another few quizzes on Kahoot which I found to be very enjoyable. I found the first quiz to be quite difficult mainly because the questions did not make sense. The brand quiz was much easier and I came quite close to winning it until I fell short at the last hurdle. The brain teaser quiz was just pointless.

Blog Post 127

Today we began by watching a kick-starter video which showed a virtual reality glove which allowed its users to feel certain objects on screen such as the rain and butterflies. We then moved on to another Kahoot quiz which was about binary and processing, I came 13th out 19 which in my opinion was poor.

We also did another Kahoot quiz which showed us different sites and destinations from different countries around the world. I found this quiz to be more fun and I also came 5th out 19 which in my opinion was not too bad. I then started on assignment three task one which was to display evidence from the practical and talk about certain aspects.

We also did a geoguesser game which involved us being dropped in a certain place on Google street view and trying to guess where about we were on the map. I found this to be fun but also frustrating at the same time because I had to look for street signs and quite often I ended up in the middle of nowhere.

Blog Post 126

Today we began with a quiz on the website Kazook. We had to type in a game pin on our phones and then come up with a nickname before joining the quiz. The first quiz was about computer systems, at first I was doing quite well but then the questions got more and more harder so I finished 8th out of 14.

I then continued on with the assignment three practical in which I had to set up monitor settings and carry out both a defrag and a clean up on temporary files. I finally finished the practical and wrote on the label before taking my computer back to the front of the class. I found the practical to be a bit annoying.

After lunch we did another quiz on Kazook this time on cartoon characters. I thought that I would do better on the quiz but I finished 6th out of 16. I find the Kazook website to be incredibly fun because I enjoyed seeing what nicknames people have come up with.

Blog Post 125

Today we began by watching a video that displayed a product called Holo Lens it was a very interesting video but I felt that the product was more of a luxury rather than a necessity. We also did another quiz today that was about how privacy over the internet has changed and what solutions people have come up with.

I then continued on with the assignment three practical until I found out that the computer I had upgraded was broken. I feel that I was not entirely at fault for this because the people helping should of wore ESD bands. So I had to wait a little bit until I got a new computer to restart the practical on.

I then continued on with assignment three completing the majority of my checklist on task 1. Tomorrow I plan to finish the entire practical because I do not have many tasks left to tick off on my checklist. I will then upload the images to my computer and begin to write up about the images.

Blog Post 124

Today we started off by looking at a compilation video of lots of robots falling over and then looking at an article that talked about being able to count the amount of people in an area using Wi-Fi. I found the video and article to be interesting as it showed how well technology is progressing in certain areas and how far we still need to go.

We then continued on with the work that we were doing yesterday. I began by completing a re-submission for the web development unit and then I was allowed to begin assignment three. During this time I managed to plug the computer in, look at how it is performing and also run a benchmark test.

Overall today was a good day because I got a re-submission done and I did a part of the practical for assignment three. I had to stop after I installed the components I wanted to because I needed a certain cable in order for the monitor to work and display. I hope to get the practical done tomorrow.

Blog Post 123

Today we began by looking at some interesting articles about how a camera can run using Wi-Fi and we looked at some entrants for the Amazon robot competition that included a robot hand and a hover bike. After this we continued on with our work, I had to continue on with assignment two while I waited.

I finished assignment two after break and then started on my assignment one re-submission because it is due in on Friday. I found this to be irritating because my work has lots of corrections to make and there are also about 15 comments on each task. This means that the re-submission will probably take a while.

Overall today was a fairly average day because I enjoyed looking at the articles and getting assignment two completed. I did not enjoy trying to do the corrections for assignment one though. I hope to start assignment three tomorrow because I feel prepared and ready to do it.

Blog Post 122

Today we began with some interactive mini games that were themed around the current unit of computer systems. The game involved having to answer questions and then try and shoot as many targets as possible. We then had to post our total score in the email thread. I got 21 out of 31 but I killed like 50 ducks.

We then moved onto looking at a news report about the E-waste crisis in Ghana. It talked about how people would extract copper from materials while inhaling dangerous fumes that were already having an effect on their health. I found this report to be very informative and it made me more aware of what is happening.

The afternoon consisted of lots of re-submission work for the web design unit. We also watched a video showing how boats were scrapped in India. The captain of the hip would drive into a beach at high speed and people would then take the materials from the boat. I also had an air bag popped next to my head.

Blog Post 121

Today we started off with an activity which was testing how well we can tell the difference in sound quality. We had to listen to the same example of music three times and select which one we thought was an uncompressed sound file. I found this to be very enjoyable as a starter activity and it has broaden my sound based knowledge.

We then compared our assignment three checklists with two examples of assignment three work. I found this to be very helpful as it allowed me to add to my checklist as well as spotting any mistakes that were within the example pieces of work. I then compared my checklist with the scheme of learning to be sure.

Overall today was a productive and relatively fun day. The starter activity was a particular highlight in a day which mainly consisted of catching up on work and also recapping over assignment two. I hope to get more work done tomorrow so that I can finish assignment two and think about assignment three.

Blog Post 120

Today we began with another quiz that was themed around 3D printing and how it has developed over the years. There was a total of 11 questions and a total of 14 marks to get. I managed to get a very respectable 11 out of 14 but it was not enough to win the quiz overall meaning that I still have not won a quiz yet.

We then moved onto recapping what we learnt yesterday which was talking about different recommendations to make to a company regarding computer systems. Once we had done recapping we were given some time to write up assignment two task one. We did this up until 11:45.

We then talked about the dangers of playing around with computers and the health and safety measurements and precautions we could take. We did this activity in pairs and eventually combined the list with the rest of the class to make one large list. We then had to come up with a checklist for assignment three  

Blog post 119

Today we began with a huge quiz with the theme of the questions being about what we are currently learning which is computer systems. There were 28 questions in all with the mark total being 50, The quiz was moderately hard because some questions I did not know and others I did know. I got a score of 36.5 out of 50.

We then moved onto covering the content required for assignment two task one. the assignment task is to recommend a computer system to a small business and suggest different methods for things such as backing up files and suggesting good security. I found this to be very helpful when it came to writing up the assignment.

Overall today was both helpful and good because I enjoyed the quiz although the 28 questions were a bit excessive and I found today's covering of the content in assignment two to be extremely helpful. I hope to write up some more of assignment two tomorrow because I have not finished it yet.

Blog Post 118

Today we began the day with a quiz about what is a computer and the basics about it. The questions at first were easy but as the quiz went on the questions got more and more difficult. For example the first question was to define what a computer is. The last question was to say how many servers were on the screen.

I only managed to achieve a score of 9 out of 16 which was not enough to win a post it note. After the quiz we recapped over what we learnt yesterday and we also talked about the purpose of a computers operating system. we came up with a mind map that contained what we thought an operating system should do.

I then moved on to assignment one task one which is to identify the different components of a computer system and to talk about their functions and how they each rely on each other. Overall I enjoyed today because the quiz was great and I am finally beginning to understand the unit.

Blog Post 117

Today we began a new unit called computer systems. We began by filling out the initial survey in which we had to rate certain aspects of our ability to learn and our knowledge of this unit. We then began by listing all of the parts of a computer that we know about. I could only list two parts which were the hard drive and motherboard.

We were then given a piece of hardware to define each. I had to define optical drive because this was probably the easiest piece of hardware to define. I then had to look up an image of an optical drive as well as a video of it working and talking about the specs of a CD, DVD and Blu Ray. I eventually did this task.

Finally I had to try out two different operating systems and locate certain things like how to remove an account and look at a computers specifications. The operating systems I used were Windows XP and Windows Vista. Tomorrow I plan on learning more about computer hardware so I can do the first task.

Blog Post 116

Today I started off the day by continuing on with assignment four task one which was to provide evidence of different things such as; the uploading of web files, the webpages in two different web browsers and the screenshots of HTML code and the CSS style sheets. We also have to include the URL for the site.

After finishing this task I moved onto assignment four task two which was to write up a review about the questionnaire I made along with evidence of improvements based off the feedback received form the questionnaire. I eventually finished this after taking many screenshots and drawing lots of text boxes.

Overall today was a good day because I achieved my goal of finishing the work before Thursday so that I can focus on the new upcoming unit about computer hardware. I also finished the evaluation task of assignment four which was to provide screenshots of how the requirements were met from the scheme of learning.

Blog Post 115

Today we started by carrying on with the design work of unit twenty eight. During this time I added a comment box so that people could write comments about the webpage. I also included an image that contained a link so that I could meet the requirements that are stated in the scheme of learning for this unit.

During the next session I tried to upload the website files onto FileZilla so that the website could be viewed on ICT showcase. I had a lot of problem with this because when I had uploaded the files a webpage would then not display correctly meaning that I would have to re-upload certain files.

Overall today was a good day because I completed the designing of my website but I know need to complete assignment four which is to evidence my website, review the website and evaluate the whole process of making the webpage. I hope to get this all done by Tuesday so that I can start the next unit.

blog post 114

Today we began with the student quiz. The quiz was about hardware and how each component of the computer works. The quiz had a good balance of difficult and easy questions so it meant that the quiz could still be challenging. I achieved a score of 14 out of 16 which was one away from being a winning score.

We then moved on to designing our websites, I added a footer to each webpage because the scheme of learning stated as one of the requirements that each page had a footer included. I still need to add some images to the site and then it will be fully complete. I then moved onto completing some corrections for unit 22.

Overall today was a good day because I enjoyed the quiz and almost won it. I got lots of work done including most of my website and I got some of the corrections that needed to be done. I hope to have the website finished and handed in by Tuesday at the latest so that I can prepare for the next unit.

Blog Post 113

Today we should of began with a quiz but unfortunately the person who was doing the quiz did not make one. So this meant that we could carry on with the design of our webpages. I completed the initial pages and made questionnaire for people to leave feedback about the webpage on. I made about 5 questions for it.

After break I began collecting a few responses, I had to make the respondents look at my webpage on my screen because I could not upload the website. This was because every time I tried to log in it would tell me that I cannot connect to the server. Near the end of the day we realised that my account name was being entered incorrectly.

Overall today was an average day because I got lots of website design done but uploading my website was a huge problem and in the end it required a quite simple solution. I hope to finish up the final changes of my website tomorrow and then begin on the documentation side of design process.

Blog post 112

Today we began by continuing with the designing of our websites. During the first session I completed the about me page for my website and added the navigation bar for access to other pages. I Plan to add an image and some colour in the background because at the moment I still have a white background.

During the next session I completed the contact me page. I added two ways of contact which are through email and mobile phone. I then added the navigation bar so that it matched up with the other webpages. I hope to add some background colour so the site looks less bland and boring however I do not want to have bad colours.

Overall today was a good day because I managed to complete most of the sites initial pages which I plan to change based off feedback. I also completed the qualifications page that now has a table that is easy to read. On Thursday I plan to finalise the pages before making a questionnaire for feedback.

111th blogpost

Today we began by continuing with  the work we have left to do. For me this was finishing off assignment three task two. I finished it off by talking about the different tools and techniques needed to make a website including; HTML, Hyperlinks, Navbar and the use of templates to plan the layout of the website.

I them moved onto the creation of my website. I began by setting up the background of the webpage. After much verbal criticism it was agreed that I should remove the background or be forced to learn more about colour theory which is something I would never like to do. I then had some help in the redesigning of the site.

Overall today was average because I worked very hard in order to make a good website but I was told that it looked "horrific" and "it hurts my eyes" so after much hard work I had to change everything so it looked less bad. I now hope that I do not have to make any huge changes to the site again otherwise I will just give up.  

Blog Post 110

Today we began by doing any leftover work that we needed to hand in. I began by working on assignment three task two and writing up some more techniques and methods used to make websites. I did this until break time at 10:45 because after break I had other pieces of work that I had to do.

After break I went through my folder structure and began to reorganise the folders so that when I hand in the units it is easy for them to mark. This meant I went through three units making sure that each file was put into the scheme of learning and that the signature and correct hand in dates were written in.

Overall today was a good day because I got lots of work done including some of the work that I was behind on such as the the game design unit. I also successfully handed in three units that at the time were needed to be handed in. I also handed in the re submission for unit 37 that is due in for Monday.

109th Blog Post

Today we began with a small number of people in the class. This was because there was lots of traffic on the way up. We began at ten o'clock by discussing the distinction task for assignment three. I began working on assignment three task one which is to draw up a webpage design and scan them onto a document.

I then moved onto adding some text next to the screenshots that explained the features and key points of each of the screenshots. After this I decided to do some work that I needed to hand in such as unit 22 the games design unit. I completed the design spec, PowerPoint corrections and user manual corrections.

Overall today was a good day because I got lots of work done including some of unit twenty eight and some of unit twenty two. I also enjoyed the fact that I was able to do lots of work from not just this unit but also some of the other previous units like unit 22. I hope to get more time to do other pieces of work.

Blog Post 108

Today we began with the quiz we were supposed to be doing yesterday. The quiz was about what we have learnt so far during this unit. The questions were mixed with some being hard and some being slightly simpler. I managed to achieve a score of 5 out of 10 which disappointed  me but I did not come last.

We then moved on to talking about the merit and distinction criteria for assignment three task two. I started on assignment three task one which was to come up with five webpage designs we plan to use for the final website. I found this task to be simple but annoying because I am not very god when it comes to drawing.

Overall today was a good day because I got lots of drawings done. The drawing was tedious and a bit annoying because of my lack of skills. I hope to improve my drawing skills but I am not sure that I will be able to as I feel that my drawing skills have hit their peak. I hope to hand in some more work so that I have no work outstanding.

107th Blog Post

Today we should of began with a quiz but the person who was supposed to be doing the quiz forgot to do it again meaning we have to wait until tomorrow to do the quiz. This meant that we could go over assignment three in greater detail and talk about what is required during assignment three.

I then continued on with assignment two task one which was to explain about the different factors both server side and user side. I then moved onto assignment two task two which was to explain about the different security threats and protection used on the internet. I found this to be relatively easy.

Overall today was a good day because I completed assignment two before tomorrows deadline and I can now move onto assignment three which is designing the outline of the webpage that we create in assignment four. The negative of the day was the fact that we did not get to do a quiz because we usually do a quiz.

106th Blog Post

Today we began by being put into randomly assigned groups. Each group was assigned a different definition to do with computer security. The group I was in was told to come up with a definition for firewalls. I found this activity to be good because it helped me understand more about firewalls and what they do.

We then moved onto more assignment work. I finished off assignment one task three and began assignment two task one during today's time frame. I find assignment two task one to be an easily understandable task because it is talking about the different factors that affect web performance.

Overall today was a good day because we started off with a group activity which is different from the usual activities that we start the morning off with. I also got a large amount of work done today and I completed assignment one before the deadline of tomorrow meaning I can get other pieces of work done.    

Blog Post 105

Today We began by looking at assignment two task one which is to write a report explaining the various factors that affect website performance. Based off what it says in the scheme of learning the task should be relatively easily. I decided to continue with assignment one and I managed to finish task two in this time.

I then moved onto task three assignment one which is to draw detailed diagrams about how users access web pages, how users send emails over the internet and detailed explanations about web 2.0, social networking, blogging, cloud computing and online applications. I managed to achieve most of this however I still need to complete the detailed explanations.

Overall today was a good day because I caught up by almost completing assignment one. Assignment one has to be handed in on Wednesday the 29th of April. This means I have tomorrow to complete the detailed explanation. I also completed feedback for my test plan in the games design unit.

Today we were supposed to begin with a quiz but the person who was meant to be doing it forgot to make a quiz. So we just got on with our assignment one work for the rest of the day instead. I continued with task one so that I could hopefully get it finished today. I got lots of work done during this session.

We then continued with more assignment work while discussing task two which is to explain the purpose of a hosting service and the typical functions provided.  To look at three different website hosting companies and identify the services each offers. Using a domain diagram, explain the structure of a domain name. Find out the registrar of a chosen domain name, and explain the role of a registrar.

Overall today was a good day because I got lots of work done to a good standard and I understand the majority of what I need to do in order to achieve a good grade for this task. Hopefully tomorrow I can finish task one and two.

Blog Post 103

Today we began by watching a funny video from the TV show The IT Crowd. We were then asked what we thought the internet is. Unfortunately no one could answer the question so we instead did a 12 question quiz to test our knowledge on networking and the internet. I achieved a score of 8 out of 12.

We then moved onto researching a definition that we were assigned. We worked in pairs to research and then write down the research on Microsoft Word. We then shared these Word documents with the rest of the class. We then started on assignment one task one. In this assignment we have to outline the web architecture and components.

Overall today was a good day because we combined learning with different activities that are more fun than the usual activities. The quiz was very enjoyable but difficult because I don't have a lot of knowledge in this area. I liked watching the clip at the start of the day because it was funny and again very different from what we usually do.    

Blog Post 102

Today we began with a new unit called website production. I am very interested in this unit because it is potentially one of the career paths I would like to go down in the future. We began by looking over the different learning objectives and what we are expected to achieve each session. I found this to be interesting.

We then started by going over the basic tags that are used in HTML. These tags include <title> and <p> as well as many more. We eventually created a small page that contained our name and an image of our choice. We then changed the colour of the text and added a link to a website within the image we had chosen.

Overall today was an interesting and informative day. I learnt lots of new things about HTML and I also remembered a few other things that I had forgotten about. The positive of the day was that we were starting a new and interesting unit. The negative of the day was some of the confusing aspects about HTML.

blog post 101

The best historical method of animation in my opinion is hand drawn which was mainly used by Walt Disney in the early days. This method bought huge success for Walt Disney and in my opinion made animation a more popular choice of viewing amongst many different people of different ages.

I have admired Matt Thorndyke's work the most because I worked in a group with him and saw what he was capable of making. Today he made an animation for the quiz which showed off a car he had made in Flash. He also made a very nice building for our animation and in the feedback it got lots of positive comments.

I feel that this unit has gone fairly well because I did more writing than I did animating. This is because I am not very good when it comes to animating and using Flash. This is why in the next unit I will try to improve on my software skills and knowledge so that I do not have to go through tutorials or end up making a poor standard of work.   

100th Blogpost

The best part of the day was the fact that this is my 100th blog post which is a very special occasion for me. This is because I have not skipped many blog posts and I have often attended college. I also enjoyed viewing peoples responses to the questionnaire me and Matt made about our animation.

I have learnt about the different ways of getting feedback from people. This includes; questionnaires, verbal feedback, presentations and a score system. I found this to be very helpful because it means that I now know more than just one way of getting feedback and I can decide on which would be the best way of getting it.

This will help me in the world of work because if I start up a new product I can get feedback about it from different people. I can also decide upon the best way of exhibiting this feedback. It will also help me in work because I can understand how to deal with and handle feedback from people particularly verbal feedback.

Back from Easter

Today we began by doing some maths under pressure. We had to answer different equations before the time limit ran out. each time the user answered a set of questions they would advance another level. I managed to get up to level 6, which is decent because it started to give me algebra equations which I cannot do.

We then moved onto working in our animation groups again. We began by deciding on the content of the credits. We ended up including references to the software that we used to create the animation and we credited each other with the different aspects of the animation. I am very happy with the credits of the animation.

Overall today was a good day because the group got lots of work done and we finished the animation. I enjoyed doing the maths under pressure at the start of the day because it was different from the usual starter activities. I did not enjoy getting up early this morning because I was very tired.

27/03/15

Today we began by going into our groups and finishing off our animations and documents. We began by having a group discussion about the workload and how is best to distribute it. We then got on with the workload. I wrote up the annotations for the screenshots I took yesterday and today. I felt that this session was very productive.

I then moved onto submitting some left over units that I had forgotten to submit until today. I then continued on with some more annotating so that I had completed my section of the production log. I then completed the correction for the design brief and added more detail so that I had the required amount of words.

Overall today was a good day because the group was very productive and we got lots of work done. I also completed my section of the writing and corrections for the design brief. The next time I work in a group I will put myself foward for more work and make sure I complete it to a good standard.  

26/03/15

Today we began with  student quiz about a small length Loony Tunes animation. It was about a farmer trying to capture Bugs Bunny so that he can have some dinner. I enjoyed watching the animation because it helped me re-live childhood memories. I felt that the questions were a bit easy because it was a very high scoring quiz.

We then moved onto viewing each others in progress animations. I enjoyed this as it was good to see other peoples work and to be able to grade it. The animations were quite jumpy because of the way that LanSchool works. I also wanted to see what people had to say about our animation so far.

Overall today was a good day because we got lots of work done to our animation and it is now almost complete. I also enjoyed the quiz because it is something different from our usual work and exercises. I hope to complete the animation tomorrow so that we only have to document and annotate screenshots.  

24/03/15

Today I learnt about a new tool in flash which is called VCAM. VCAM is used to capture Flash animations and can help create different camera angles and zooms for the Flash animation. I also learnt more about the importance of frames in Flash because I have to sync the zoom of the camera with the beat of the music.

I would tell the person who is about to animate that they should look through guides and tutorials to learn about Flash. I would then say that they should use a different program to draw the assets for their animation. I would then tell them to consider how many frames they wish to use so that they can decide on how smooth they want the animation to be.

A dope sheet is important because it can help someone who has been ill or new to the project to understand what is happening in each frame or second. A dope sheet is also important because it can help the person to organise their time more efficiently and they can know what they doing without having to ask someone.    

23/03/15

Today we began the day by looking at an example video of stop motion. It was very enjoyable as it had a variety of different backgrounds and things happening in the actual animation. We then had to answer a few questions that reflected the video. I found the video to be funny but slightly irrelevant to the group I am in as we have chosen a different form of animation.

We then went back into our groups, our group discussed how we should divide the workload and what we needed to get done during the day. I then went back to my desk to draw both the background, clouds and birds in the first scene. I enjoyed this because it was not too complex for me to draw and I could feel like I was contributing.

Overall today was a good day because I contributed lots to the group as we carried out different tasks including; background drawing, extreme close up of the burger asset and going over the dope sheet with the group. I have benefited from today because I knew what I needed to do throughout the day because of clear planning.

20/03/15

Today we began with a special quiz with the subject of the quiz being about how to make an effective storyboard. I achieved a score of 547 which was not enough to get the highest score in the class. We did this quiz after stepping outside to look at some clouds before realising we were not going to see the eclipse so we went back inside.

We then moved onto working back in our animation groups for this unit. We began by looking over both the dope sheet and time log. We then wrote up about the feedback we received yesterday for our pitch. I then edited some music in Audacity to help the soundtrack suit the animation. I then wrote up an explanation of what I did to edit the music.

Overall today was a good day because I enjoyed going outside to look at some clouds particularly when it got really cold. I also enjoyed editing the music we needed in Audacity because I do not get use Audacity very often. The negative of the day was the amount of formatting the Google docs needed because images or text would move onto a different page.  

19/03/15

A pitch is a speech or presentation that is designed to convince or sell to people your different ideas or assets. Pitches have to be entertaining enough to keep the audience interested while also keeping eye contact with them so that they feel like they are being spoken to properly. Pitches also require lots of positivity so that you can convey how positive and passionate you are about the subject of the pitch. 

The advice I would give to someone else who is about to pitch is that I would tell them to seem passionate while also displaying lots of knowledge about the subject of the pitch. I would also say that eye contact should be kept with everyone in the room and not just at one person or the board.

Overall I felt that our groups pitch was decent. We had good information on each slide particularity the sketch slides. The bad points of the pitch were that we did not include enough information about the format of the restaurant and how it would work. I felt that we did well to answer a lot of the feedback and questions that people gave us.  

17/03/15

Today we began by doing some word association with pre-production being the subject word. I managed to associate many words with pre-production because I already knew based off of the word what it meant. It is basically all the measures needed to do before the creation process begins. This can be things such as equipment testing, planning and a check list.

We then moved on to working in our groups again. During the time with my group I completed a mood board and storyboard. I then explained each of the documents in Google documents. We are using Google documents because it means the group can edit the document at the same time.

What I have done today is useful because it gives the group a clear idea heading into production. It also means that the group can work quicker and less questions will be asked because we already know what is happening. The pre-production word association as useful because people who did not know what pre-production meant can now understand it.

The New Assignment

Today we started off with another crossword that we had to do on a computer screen rather than on paper. This would have been fine had it not been for the lack of quality in the image making it hard to find different key terms. I found the crossword to be annoying as I only found two words during the time limit which annoyed be a lot.

Today I learnt about the different camera shots and which camera angle is the best for which situation. For example an extreme long shot is good for showing where the person currently is. I also learnt about the different ways of making a good storyboard like including actions and  scene numbers.

Overall today was a good day because we started a new assignment which means we get to work in teams. Everyone has to come up with an advert promoting a certain product. We have to come up with design briefs and storyboards. We then make a 45 second advert that can be stop motion or Flash as long as it uses certain camera angles.

90th Blog post

Today I learnt about the different inventions and ideas that helped to shape animation as it is today. I also learned more about the people who helped contribute to animation in it's early stages like William Horner and even Thomas Edison. I also learned about how to evaluate something effectively.

I feel that the things I have learned about today will help because it improves my knowledge about animation. It also helps me to appreciate the amount of work that goes into animations particularly feature length animations. It will also help me to add information to my assignment and to make sure it is of a good quality.

The things that went well from today were; I learned lots about animation techniques and key people. I learnt new words to help me describe the atheistic of animation like colourful, simple and detailed. I also got lots of work done because I have a few deadlines coming up for assignments that I need to tweak.      

Post number 89

Today we began by having a type race on a website sent to us. I enjoyed this activity because it allowed us to sharpen up our typing skills and it had an added element of competitiveness to it. My highest score of words per minute was 47. I felt very happy with this score because it meant that I beat a few other people.

We then moved onto looking at bitmaps and vector images. We looked at some example images and then began to write up information into our ongoing assignments. I feel that this assignment is going very well because I understand what information needs to be included along with relevant images.

Overall today was a good day because I got lots of work done and I am understanding lots about this unit. The negatives of the day was having to watch the Beauty & The Beast film clip. I also did not enjoy the presenting to the class as I had only just finished the presentation and I had not read the notes properly.

2D Animation

Today we began a new unit which is 2D Animation. We started off by looking at some pictures and descriptions before having to match them up. I found this exercise to be confusing at first as there was so much to look at on the screen. Once the activity was explained to me I realised what I needed to do and got on with it.

We then moved on to looking at assignment one task one which is to create a report about the history of animation techniques. We looked at examples of both Cel and Stop Motion animation and then we began to write up our reports. I am currently finding this task to be informative and straightforward because the task is explained clearly in the scheme of learning.

Overall today was a good day because I learned some new things about animation particularly the processes of making certain animations. I also enjoyed looking at the examples because it helps us to understand the processes behind these animations. I did not enjoy the starter activity as I felt at first there was too much information on one screen.    

U39 Deadline

Today we began with a quiz which involved watching a Pixar animated short and then answering questions about it afterwards. I achieved a score of three out of seven which meant I had to have a tie breaker with two other people. Fortunately I don't have to do the quiz next week. I felt the quiz lacked a couple of questions as it was quite short. We then moved on to completing our evaluation of our web banners for unit thirty nine and then hand them in before the deadline.

I have learnt a lot from unit thirty nine particularly the different types of animations and the methods of creating these animations. I also learnt how to use a software that I have never used before called Flash. I learnt about Flash through many different tutorials and YouTube videos. I also learnt how animation has advanced over the years.

In order to meet deadlines I will manage my workload more carefully and make sure I add any re-submission deadlines to the calender so that I know when to complete the re submission for. I will also do work in my independent study times and during Wednesdays so that I can get work done faster.

For this unit I would watch more YouTube videos and download sound files earlier so that I can have more sound effects and better sound effects.

Yesterday at the Creative Futures event I learnt a lot about the creative industry and what it takes to make it in the industry. I also learnt about the methods involved in making a good radio show. I liked the radio activity the most as it required the whole group to make sure the show was run effectively and that it had all the content required in it. Level 3's should go again because it was an informative day and it meant getting away from the regular desk work that happens on a day to day basis.

85th Blogpost

Today we began by talking about how to evaluate something. To begin we discussed what linked Britain's Got Talent with both The Voice and The X Factor. We then watched a song battle from The Voice which we then had to evaluate at the end. I felt that at the time it cleared up what evaluate meant.

We then moved on to the new assignment task which is to evaluate and review both the time plans we made earlier and the creative process involved in creating our animated banners. At first I did not understand the task but I was then shown how to do the task and I was able to start working because it was broken up into smaller tasks that I was able to complete.

Overall today was a good day because I got lots of work done and I was able to properly understand how to evaluate something. The positive of the day was that I had completed the animated banner and handed it in yesterday. The negative of the day was the beginning of the day when we had to watch the voice.

Animated Banner Completed

Today we began with a mini crossword which featured key terms and phrases for the web animation unit. The prize for the first person to complete the crossword was a Yorkie bar. Unfortunately I was nowhere near completing the crossword so I did not win. I enjoyed this activity as it was a different start to the day and helped to engage my brain.

We then moved on to working on our animated banners again. In this time I added animation to the text and I downloaded some royalty free sound files to add to the banner as well. We were then put into pairs and we had to evaluate each others animated banners. This helped me to come up with ideas and rectify anything wrong with my banner.

Overall today was a good day as I completed the banner to what I feel is a good standard while also enjoying other activities throughout the day. The positive of the day was the amount of work I completed to a good standard. The negative was the struggle I had with importing the sound which I eventually sorted out.

Web Banner Animation

Today we began by looking over our time logs and seeing what we had to do over the next hour. I had to create the movement for my assets in the web banner. I did this by using the create motion tween option and drawing a path that I felt was suitable enough. I then drew the other assets in to add decoration to the web banner.

After break we had an hour and forty five minutes to continue with more of our animation. We had this amount of time because today was an interview day for students that wish to join Develop next year. In this amount of time I got the frame timings to a more suitable level so that the assets would appear and disappear at the required points.

Overall today was a very good day because I achieved a lot on my animation and a few other tasks. I made the assets in my animation move, I wrote up reviews for each hour and added information to the design log. The positive of the day was the workload I got done. The negative of the day was the long lunch session that took one hour and forty five minutes.  

Creating the Animation

Today we began by doing a quiz that had a different format compared to other quizzes. In today's quiz we had three possible answers and one of these answers was the odd one out. We then had to select which one we felt was the odd one out and then give a reason for it. I achieved a score of 4 out of 11 which is low but not the lowest score.

We then moved on to creating our animations for assignment 3 task 1. I began by looking at the design brief and then designing the layout of the animation. I then had to hand in a re-submission for the previous assignment so that I was not capped for the unit or potentially fail the assignment.

Overall today was a good day because I got lots of work done and I am currently on schedule in terms of my design plan for the animated web banner. The positive of the day was the quite amusing score I achieved in the quiz along with a few other people. The negative of the day was that I was not able to get ahead of my schedule.

Assignment Deadline

I have learnt about how to make an effective storyboard that conveys ideas while also having clear images. I also learnt how to make an effective time planner, it involves adding dates and adding in notes on what you expect to achieve in that time or day. I felt that I have learnt a lot today but I can still learn a bit more.

I will meet my deadlines by saving any documents to Google drives and then completing any work left at home. I will then hand this work in on time so that I do not get my grade capped for the unit. I will also do re-submissions at home so that I do not miss those deadlines and not achieve a good grade.

I would like you to know that I feel assignment two is in my opinion focused on the drawing aspect a bit too much meaning I have to look at my horrific drawings every five minutes. This does not help when other people around me draw really great drawings in comparison to my drawings. I feel that my drawing skills will take years to improve so at the moment it is a struggle to create a good drawing.

Half Term Over

My Flash skills have improved because before we started using Flash I could barely draw or make anything move across the screen. We were set different video tutorials that described different tools and methods available in Adobe Flash. These tutorial videos taught me how to draw more effectively and tween drawings.

I have re-submissions coming up for the games design unit. These include assignments 1 and 2 of unit 22. I also have assignment four of unit 22 to complete by today so I will be working on this until I finish it. I will do the other assignments later because they are not due in for another couple of days. 

I enjoyed the activity at the beginning of the lesson because it fun and it helped improve our drawing skills. I enjoyed the Flash tutorials as they helped to improve my knowledge and skills about Flash while also helping me come up with ideas for my animated banner when we have to create them. 

Half Term

Today we had a half day so that meant that we finished at lunch time. We began the day by being put into groups of 4. We then had to come up with a key term for animation and then the next person in the group would have to come up with a key term for animation using the end letter of the first key term. I found this to be confusing at first but our group eventually grasped the idea.

We then moved on to working on an Adobe Flash tutorial. The tutorial was for creating a train that would move across some tracks. I found the information in the tutorial to be confusing at some points as it did not specify where certain tools were. I did enjoy the tutorial in the end though because I managed to animate the train to go to the end of the screen.

Overall today was a good day because the activities helped to improve both my knowledge and my software skills. I also learned the creative process of making a product. It starts off with brainstorming and then becomes a spider diagram, then a mind-map and finally a mood board.

Design Brief

Today we began by playing a game of yes or no. We each had a famous person, item or tool to do with animation written on a post it note that was stuck to the forehead. We then had to walk around the classroom looking for someone who we felt matched whatever was written on our foreheads. I found this task to be both fun and informative because it combined knowledge with fun.

We then did a quiz about animation. I found the quiz to be very good as there were no observational questions and it was just facts and information based questions. I only managed to score 7 out of 10 which meant I did not get the dual monitors for a week. We then moved on to writing up design briefs for example banners on white boards. I found this to be helpful when it came to writing my own design brief.

Overall today was a good day because we started off with two fun activities that also helped with our understanding of animation. I also got to learn a bit more about Adobe Flash which is the program that I will be using to make my animation. The negative of the day was that I did win the quiz which annoys me because I still haven't won the dual monitors yet.

Claymation and Stop Motion

Today we began by talking about Claymation. We had to research facts, key dates and people of note and then share this information with the class. I felt this helped me to understand a bit more about Claymation. We then did the same task but instead looking at stop motion animation and coming up with examples of films. I enjoyed the film clips of Wallace and Gromit and Jason and the Argonauts because they helped me to understand how animation worked during that time period.

We then moved on to working on more of assignment one task one. I managed to complete three sections of assignment one task one. This included uses of web animations, history of web animation and animation. I feel that I am course to meet the now extended deadline of Monday the 16th of February.

Overall today was a good day because I got to learn more about key terms and phrases in web animation. I have worked on a lot of assignment one task one so that I can meet the deadline, Also have less work to do later on in the week when I have assignment 1 task 2 or any re-submissions that I may need to complete.

Animation

Today we began by making an A-Z of key terms in the current unit we are doing which is web animation. We then went around the class each sharing what we had put for a certain letter. I felt this helped me to remember more key terms and the definitions of each of these definitions.

We then moved on to working on assignment one task one. We had to write an article about certain aspects of animation. This ranged from uses of web animation to the history of web animations. I feel that my assignment is going very well because I have lots of detail and I am following the scheme of learning so that I meet criteria.

Overall today was a good day because I got two sections of assignment one done and I am halfway through the third section. I also got to recap other key terms which I may have forgotten or needed my memory jogged on. The negative of the day was the repetitiveness of the assignment because when you write lots it becomes a strain.

Presentation Day!

Today we began by writing up a list of PowerPoint presentation do's and don'ts. We then had to narrow these down to a top three and then share these lists with the class. This helped me too realise what techniques are needed to make a good presentation and presenter as well as seeing if I can make improvements to my own presentation.

The time then came to present my PowerPoint to the rest of the class. Unfortunately the other person I was working with was away so I had to do the presentation all by myself. I felt the presentation could of gone better because I stuttered on some lines but overall the presentation was considered a cross between adequate and good.

Overall today was a good day because I got my presentation out of the way. I also got to write some more of assignment one which is due in on Wednesday. The negative of the day was writing up a smart target because I find writing smart targets to be particularly boring. I hope to learn more key phrases soon as I am finding it hard to write definitions of these words.
 

New Unit!

Today we began by making a mid-map containing different key words about the new unit which is Web animation. I feel that I know very little about the key terms until we went into more depth about them. I learnt about frames, frames per second and about a tool that is used by animators in Adobe Flash.

We then moved on to looking at different videos which show how videos are affected at different frame rates. We were then put into pairs to come up with a presentation about an allocated topic. The topic me and my partner were given was animated banner ads and animated interface elements. We will then present these tomorrow.

Overall today was a good day because it was a fresh unit and it was a unit that I have learnt before. I am also keen on learning about animation. I enjoyed watching the videos because it was both informative and interesting. I also enjoyed working in pairs to come up with a presentation. I did not enjoy the mind map at the start because I barely had anything on the page.

The Final Countdown

Today we began by writing up a self-assessment of what we were planning to do during the day. We did this by replying to an email that contained certain questions that needed answering. I felt this again helped to set out my goals for the day and achieve them while also being slightly more reflective as well. My goal today was to finish assignments two and three.

We then moved on to completing any work we had left for the communication technology unit. I completed assignment two and half of assignment three in this allocated time. I completed a table comparing transmission methods on assignment two and made a step by step guide for accessing both Skype and a wireless connection. I also wrote up a section of the report that required us to compare the effectiveness of Wi-fi and a wireless connection.

Overall today was a good day because I managed to achieve some of the goals I had set out on the self-assessment. I had managed to complete an assignment and half of another assignment. The negative of the day was that I could not finish assignment three today as I cannot access bluetooth on my phone and I only managed to write half a report so I still have work to do tomorrow at home.

Februrary

Today marked the first day back at develop on a February. We started off by replying to an email in which we had to state our goals for the day, how we would go about achieving these goals and how the criteria was met. I felt that doing this helped me to organise the day and to get on with my work.

We then moved on to completing any assignment work we had outstanding. Since today was the deadline for assignment two I decided to complete as much of assignment two as possible. I completed task one and I am currently midway through task two which I will complete at home so that I meet tonight's deadline.

Overall today was a good day because I got my day organised and I was able to be observed while connecting to Wi-Fi which is part of assignment three. I completed task one of assignment two and handed it in. The negative of the day is the amount of work still outstanding although I can use independent study time to complete this work.  

Quiz Day

Today we began by being put into pairs. In these pairs we had to match up key terms with their definitions. I found this task to be easy and so I was done with seven minutes to spare. We were then given an extension to come up with those words in a sentence, again I found this task easy and had 3 minutes to spare before the timer ran out.

We then moved on to being put into groups of five. In these groups we had to create a PowerPoint that had network suggestions and the equipment needed. We did this for two scenarios but annoyingly we did not get to present it to the class. In the afternoon we were given a quiz about the difference between 3G and 4G. We watched a video describing the differences before we then had to answer questions. I achieved a score of six meaning I do not have to do the quiz next week because someone scored two.

Overall today was a fun day because I go to do more teamwork based exercises which I enjoy because we don't often get to work in teams. I also enjoyed the quiz because it was not too challenging but then it was not too easy either. The negative of the day is probably the amount of work I still have left to do  

A Step by Step Guide

Today we began with a crossword. The crossword contained words to do with the communication technology unit we are currently doing. I felt that this task helped to remind us of the keywords and knowledge needed in this unit. I did not complete the crossword first because I was too slow and therefore I did not win the prize.

We then moved on to researching about step by step guides and the key features they have. I looked at the first three step by step guides that came up. They featured things like images, numbers and simple text. I felt this helped me prepare for the later activity of creating my own step by step guide about accessing Skype.

Overall the day was average because there was one fun activity in the crossword and the rest of the time was spent prepping us for assignment three. There was no quiz making the day slightly more boring and we had to make a mind map about the different types of network available and if they are wireless or wired.

Assignment 2

Today we began by downloading the charades application in order to begin with the first activity. We then had to place the device on our heads and began playing charades. I did not achieve very high scores because the video games that popped up Eaun had never heard of although this was the same for me.

We then moved on to taking notes about assignment two task two. In this task we have to make a table with transmission methods, the strengths and weaknesses of these transmission methods and how effective these methods are. I feel that the task is quite straightforward because it involves making a table and adding description.

Overall today was a good day because I enjoyed the activity at the start of the day and I finished assignment one and a section of assignment two. The negatives of the day was the note taking section of the day because I found this learning style to be not so beneficial to me because I found it hard to concentrate.  

Assignment Deadline

Today we began by completing any work for assignment one we had left. I continued with assignment one because I needed to finish both the five, six and seven sections of task two. I felt that I have done particularly well on these tasks because I followed criteria. I did not however manage to complete the whole of section seven which is why I need to finish it tomorrow.

We then moved on to discussing Encapsulation with John and how it allows users to connect up to other networks after this discussion we moved on to completing more of assignment one task two. I successfully referenced section six of task two and sent it off for marking.

Overall today was a very good day because I got lots of work done to the best of my ability and I learnt a bit more about Encapsulation. The negatives of the day were that I could finish section seven of task two and that I hurt my knee walking down the stairs. I hope to have assignment one task two completed tomorrow.  

The Digital World

Today we started off by having a fun session of countdown in which we played the number game and the word game. I did not do very well because I did not win any of the rounds we played. We were then shown a PowerPoint that was created to help explain about signals and wave forms.

We then moved on to installing Audacity so we could decrypt John's audio that he had used random effects on. We were then allowed to continue with any outstanding work that we had left on this unit. I continued with the assignment which was to describe network operating systems and connection software.  

Overall today was an average day because I got lots of work done and I was able to learn a bit more about how signals and wave forms work. The positives are that today is a Friday and that I got some work done. The negatives were that the football court was not available for use at lunch meaning I had to buy popcorn.

Assignment Work

Today we started off with a quiz that was about collision detection and avoidance. I found the quiz to be both fun and very easy because I managed to achieve a score of 10 out of 11. Unfortunately I did not score enough points to win the quiz but I do not have to do it next week because I did not come last.

We then moved on to working on assignments 1 and 2. I finished up the blogs about network services and network topographies. I had to then put these in a word document so that changes can be made to the document when it gets marked. I feel that I have met the requirements of the task because I looked at the scheme of learning for help.

Overall today was a bad day because I had to do an incredible amount of work and then at lunch we were kicked off a football court for kicking the ball over into the car park. I hope that I have less work to do tomorrow and that we can go back in the football court because lunchtimes can get boring without it.  

Network Tepologies and Other Stuff

Today we began by working on any tasks we had outstanding for the communication technology unit. I worked on task two which was to describe the different network types and the network set ups or tepologies as they are known. I manged to get both tasks done and I included references because I put images in the blogs.

We then did a quiz that involved using past knowledge from this unit to answer the questions. We then learnt the difference between an advantage and a benefit. We then recapped over the PowerPoint we were shown yesterday. I found this helpful because I had one or two things I needed to go over again.

Overall today was an average day because I got lots of work done and I sent off some work form a previous unit that needed to be handed in. The negatives of the day were that I only scored four in the quiz because I did not understand the difference between an advantage and a benefit. I also found learning about error checking to be boring.

   

Communication Models and Protocols

Today we started off by being put into four different teams. The teams had to develop a presentation about an assigned network type. The team I was assigned to had to come up with a presentation for Wireless Access Protocol. We decided to divide up the team and give ourselves different tasks. I had to research what WAP is and what it does.

We then moved on to talking about models that show how data is transferred from the computer to it's destination. We also looked at how IP address are assigned to computers. John put a very interesting map on the screen that showed where the computers IP address originated from

Overall today was a good day because I got to do some more teamwork and then present the work in front of the class. We also got to play a binary game which was fun and it helped to explain how binary works. The negatives of the day was the cold in the morning and having to look through a PowerPoint about models and protocols.    

Question answering and Communication Technology

Today we started off by learning about the different network surfaces and what they actually do. We learnt about broadband and the varied speeds it can have, we learnt about packets and how packets of data travel from one computer to another. I feel that I understand how each network surface works and there advantages and limitations.

The afternoon moved on to talking about communication models and protocols mainly talking about what they were and what the acronyms stood for. I understood most of this as I wrote down twenty comments on the PowerPoint mainly containing the definitions of each protocol and model.  

The answer to the question name the two top level protocols on TCP/IP is application and transport.
the answer to the question how many layers does the OSI model have? is that it has seven layers.
The answer to the question how many layers does the TCP/IP model have? is that it has four layers.
The answer to the question what does IP stand for? is that it stands for internet protocol.

Overall today started off well because I enjoyed the team work aspect of the day as we were given four network surfaces to research about. The afternoon then got complicated because I was presented with a sheet in which I had to fill in binary on the sheet. I could not do this for the life of me, the video didn't even help me.

New Unit

Today we began by talking about the key terms of communication technology. This includes Data Terminal Equipment and Data Circuit Terminating Equipment. We learnt what functions these had and how they can connect to a network and the limitations that they can have. At first I did not understand but then I researched and got help and found out what they do.

We then moved on to talking about different devices and their functions. We had to do this in a blog post and then copy and paste it into a Word document so that we could submit it properly. I felt that I did this assignment well and matched the criteria stated on the scheme of learning.

Overall today was a productive day because I got the first task of assignment one completed and I learnt lots of new terms and definitions. I also got to walk around the classroom with a technical term and then had to look for someone with the definition of my technical term. I was given LAN or local access network.

Games Designing (Still)

Today we started off by looking at the technical manual of a game. A technical manual is used to introduce a new games designer to a game midway through it's design. It contains a description of the game plus flow charts and algorithms. I have not started creating the technical manual yet as I am still creating both the game and the instruction manual for the game. I hope to begin creating the technical manual very soon.

I moved on to adding some more features to my instruction manual. I added an FAQ page so that it would meet the scheme of learning requirements plus it would be helpful for anyone wishing to play the game. I found it hard to add questions as my game did not have much wrong with it other than level 2 can only be reached by scoring 500 and then pressing up on the arrow key.

I then moved on to my game and I added the new level by creating another room and then adding all the objects necessary in order to make the game work. I then had to make the first level advance onto the second when a score limit is reached. I did this by using the test score option and then typing in 500 so that level 2 would appear. Unfortunately the level will only advance when 500 is scored and the up arrow key is pressed.

Overall today was an average day because I got some work done but not as much as usual because of my issues with level advancement within the game. The positives of today were that I worked hard and tired myself out which doesn't usually happen. The negatives of today were that pieces of work had to be handed in like my game and it is still not finished as of yet. I also had to hand in more work form a previous unit.   

Still Games Designing

Today we began by writing up reviews about the professional development plan. We had to evaluate the targets we had set earlier on in the unit. We also wrote up about how achievable and challenging we felt these targets were. I also covered the the strengths and weaknesses of the targets and how it helped us when it came to designing the game. I felt that the review contains as much information as I could put in but there are only two long paragraphs there so I perhaps need to think up of other topics.

We then moved on to creating the instruction manual for our games. We had to create a cover, an introduction section, controls page, descriptions of each of the characters, images of the items and brief description and images of the menus and how to navigate them. I felt that the majority of the instruction manual was very good because it has all the required content except for the images of the in game menus because I have not finished creating these yet.

I then continued with my games design and today I added another power up which destroys a certain asset for a limited period of time before it comes back. I had to use the destroy instance tool on Game-Maker and then write up a piece of code for the timing of the event. I felt that dragging the tool was very simple but the coding caused a problem because I cannot code and I do not know how to get things to function.

Overall today was an average day because I got lots of work done but I still have lots to do in order to meet the upcoming deadlines. The positives of today were the quantity of work I got done and sending off some previous work from a different unit. The negatives were that I still have lots more work to do and then we start a new unit on Thursday which will mean more work.

Game Designing

Today we began by making more of the game we are required to make for assignment three. I began by setting up more sprites and power ups to be included in the game. I then set up the first power up which is stealth. by changing the looks of the character using the change sprite tool. I then used code to make so that after 20 seconds the power up wears off and the sprite changes back to it's original state. I feel that at first the task was relatively simple until I had to make the effects of the power up wear off at that point I struggled because I had to use code and I am not very good at coding.

I then moved on to adding the extra life power up into the game by creating a sprite and object to be included in the game. I then used the set lives tool and made so that when the character collides with the power up it gains an extra life. I struggled with this at first because the lives would not increase and so I had to use YouTube tutorials in order to find the correct method of adding an extra life to the game.

I need help with making sprites objects disappear but then reappear after a certain time. The alarm techniques seems very complicated and so I will probably have to use code although I find coding hard so I will probably require assistance at some point.

Overall today was a very average day because I got as much work as I could done although I will probably need an extension because I was away yesterday. The positives of today was the amount of sprites and objects I added to the game. I also got them to function well within the game by testing it. The negatives of today were that I still have lots of work to do on my game and I keep having muscle injuries within my left leg which the hospital need to look at when they can.

January Blues

Today I worked on my maze game for assignment three because the deadline for the assignment is on Friday this week. I began by making the background of my games assets transparent so that they could look more life like and not have huge coloured squares around them. I then added a scoring system in order to make my game more competitive and enjoyable. I felt I have done very well in adding these features into my game because they both work.

I then added a life system to add more danger and fun into the game. I did this by using the set life counter feature and then making it so the lives decrease every time the character comes into contact with enemies. I then added the power up asset and made it so it appears in the maze every ten seconds. I felt I did well at adding these tools and features because they both work and add an element of fun into the game.

I enjoyed adding in the power up the most because it was challenging and difficult at first but after overcoming the problems I successfully got the power up to spawn in every 10 seconds and spawn at random points within the maze. I least enjoyed making the life system as it was quite similar to the score system in how it works and functions. Every time the character would come into contact with the enemies it would take away a life one at a time.

Overall today was an average day because I got lots of work done considering how much I usually struggle with game maker and programming things. I found the day to be very tiring because after having two weeks off I am struggling with tiredness due to all the relaxing I did. Hopefully I can be less tired after working by the end of this week.
